Botanical name: Butea monosperma
Other name: flame-of-the-forest, dhak, palash, and bastard teak
The plant is renowned as the “Flame of the Forest,” owing to the distinctive shape of its yellow-saffron colored flowers, which boast anthelmintic properties useful in expelling stomach worms. Additionally, the leaf paste can be applied directly to the skin to address skin infections and promote wound healing. The astringent qualities of Palash contribute to the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, and the balance of Kapha-Vaat Dosha. Palash is administered orally in churna form, and its crushed leaves are also applied directly to the skin in paste form.
